Internationalization System (Languages)

Internationalization System (Languages)

Overview

UpVoter supports 14 languages: Spanish, English, Basque, French, Portuguese, Catalan, Galician, German, Italian, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish. The language is determined automatically to make life simple for both the organizer and the final participants.

1. Participant Language

The language selector for the participant is always available in the top right corner of the interface.

How is the participant's initial language decided?

When a participant accesses a poll, UpVoter tries to display the interface in their preferred language automatically:
  • If the participant accesses through an email invitation link, the platform will load in the same language in which that email was written.
  • If they access via QR code or generic link, UpVoter will detect the browser language from their device.
  • If the participant opens the language menu and manually selects another language, the system will remember their choice for future sessions coming from that same device.

  • 2. Organizer Dashboard Language

The language of the organizer dashboard is entirely independent of the language seen by participants. An organizer can work in German while their participants view the session in Catalan.

The organizer can change their own language at any time using the dropdown menu (globe icon) located in the upper right side of the Main Dashboard. Their choice will be remembered for subsequent visits from that device.

    3. Projection Screen Language

The results view (the screen projected to the public) will adapt to the browser language of the computer running the projection. There is no manual selector on this view to keep the presentation screen as spotless as possible.

    > Important note: The query text for questions, response choices, and the session title itself will always show exactly precisely as the organizer wrote them during session creation, no matter what UI language the participant or projection is set to. Only interface elements are translated (buttons, help modals, text notifications).

    4. Language in Email Invitations

When you invite participants by email from the management panel, the email with their link will be generated in the language currently active on your dashboard at that precise moment.

If you change the language of your dashboard right in the middle of sending invitations, one group could receive emails in Spanish and another group in English. To ensure all participants receive unified email content, make sure your dashboard is set to your target language before you hit "Invite all".
